Balahati: And there is another type of Salahati (1), they say it falls from the cities of Salaht, and inside the coast of Zangestan (2), it is amber, black and sallow (3), and there are some that the fish swallows and throws it back, and it smells like fish. His nature is warm and dry, second degree and tender, it is good for cold and nasal diseases and the elderly.

 

(1) Salahat ambergris; a good quality. Ambra al schalahati: salahat ambergris; a good quality. Also found in: Ibn Masawaih (857); Ibn Wadih al-Ya'qubi (d897); Sa'id al-Tamimi (980); Abu al Mutahhar al Azdi (1010); Ismail Gorgani (1110); Nuwayri (1333).

One of the best kinds was named salahati, that was imported from the region of Sofala'. (India). It was recognised by its bluish colour and fatty matter. (A ZOHAR · 2013)
