Sohar (in Oman)

Said Al-Azizi: Oman is a great city with a harbour for ships from Sind, India, China and Zinj, and the Kasbah (1) is called Sohar (2) and not on the Persian Sea and the cities are more honorable, and its belongings are about three hundred leagues, which are the homes of Al-Azd (3).

(1) Kasbah: a type of fortress

(2) Sohar: coastal city In Oman close to the border with Dubai.

(3) Al-Azd: is one of the largest Arab tribes which descended from the Nabataeans, and was the first tribe to inhabit Arabia.
