Al-Fayyumi; al-Misbah al-Munir (Arab Lexicon)1334 Syria

Al-Fayyumi (d1368 CE): Al-Misbah al-Munir fi Gharib al-Sharḥ al-Kabir. He was an Egyptian lexicographer who served as a mosque imam in Syria. Al-Fayyumi’s Miṣbaḥ goes beyond being only a technical dictionary due to its wide scope, making it a general dictionary of the Arabic language with a focus on explaining technical words used in the science of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence). He writes some general things on East Africa.
