(When talking of the coast as a place to find pearls)

 

The coast of Seraphington (1) is in the sea of Fars (2), and called Qish (3), which is between Seraphington to Al-jmahh (4),

and the totals of the Qatari (5) coast of Oman, one of the top Aljmahh to Berbera, which follows Abyssinia, and

beginning of the bay of Oman, and then Shihr (6), then Asagtootr (Socotra) then bay of Aden, then Berbera, …….

 

(The sun) has also influenced the bay of Zinj and Oman, but there is only little. Hardly there is anything in it, ………

(1) Seraphington: a port together with Basra the most important in the Persian Gulf during the early Abbasid period.

(2) Fars: region in Iran.

(3) Qish: Kish island is located in the Persian Gulf, 19 km from mainland Iran, and has an area of approximately 91 km2. It was very important in early Abbasid times.

(4) Al-jmahh; al Jamah: religious brotherhood settlement.

(5) Qatar: Qatar Peninsula in Arabia.

(6) Shihr; coastal town in Hadhramaut in eastern Yemen.
