The separate countries

In this chapter we mention the famous countries, and the districts of the world's fourth quarter:

The land of Zinj, which is called Zanzibar, and the largest of its cities is called Sofala.  Zinj and its Qanbalah (1); The country of Sudan and its capital at the end of the places and of the large cities of Al Maghrib and its largest cities; Ghana; the country of Yemen and its great cities are Sana'a (2), Aden and Najran (3) ………

In Kerman (4) there are liver diseases, which they call it al-amrad liver diseases, but for those who live in Tel-Dakar there are only few. In Zanj, scabies exists.(5)

(1) Qanbalah: Qanbuluh: The island of Qanbalu from where the Zanj slaves were imported till the great Zanj revolt in Basra. (Zanzibar or Pemba)

(2) Sana'a: capital of Yemen.

(3) Najran: is a city in southwestern Saudi Arabia near the border with Yemen.

(4) Kerman: known in ancient times as the satrapy of Carmania, is the capital city of Kerman Province, Iran.

(5) Scabies in the land of Zanj is found in: Jahiz's Kitab al-Hayawan (869),  Ibn Khordadbeh (886), al Hamadhani (903), Ibn Rosteh (903), Ibn al-Fakih Tha'alibi (1038), Al-Raghib al-Isfahani (1109), Mohammad ebn Mahmud ebn Ahmad Tusi (1160), Ali ibn Zaid al Baihaqi (1170), Jakut al Hamawi (1220), Al-Qazwini Atar al Bilad (1283), Rukneddin Ahmed (1420) and many others.
